Thanks to my lovely writing buddy, I was inspired to start a blog. So I guess this is my introduction post! So hi, my name is Mel! I am a college student balancing class, my first real job, and my writing (which I hope to get published one day). If you follow my blog, you’ll get to see me blather a lot about things important to me, like my writing, my reading, my other blog (which started this whole journey), and other things that I decide to talk about at random. (What those are, I am not sure yet. I guess we’ll find out.)
Like I said, I am an avid reader. My bookshelf is terrifying and overloaded with books. Everything that doesn’t fit upstairs is crammed downstairs, or in boxes. (So many books. So little space.)
So since I love to read, I’ll probably ramble about books a lot, especially once NaNoWriMo (aka National Novel Writing Month, which is this month) ends and I have a little more time to read.
(Yes, I am doing NaNoWriMo this year. Yes, it is terrifying and filled with pitfalls and also a lot of fun and exciting. If you’ve never done NaNoWriMo, and you’re a) a writer, b) have wondered what it would be like to write a novel, c) have an idea in your head that would probably make a good book, or d) just think it sounds cool, you should totally do it. It’s awesome and the community on the NaNo forums is really lovely. Good place to find an amazing writing buddy.)
I will also write a lot about writing, because last October, I got back into writing and it was one of the best decisions I ever made, because writing is awesome. It is not easy – and anyone who tells you writing a novel is easy is lying – but it’s very rewarding. Watching a novel grow and change through edits is like watching a child grow up. It’s heartwarming and fills you with pride. Well, at least that’s true for me anyway.
And finally, the other reason I started this blog. I originally made this blog when I started up an animation blog with the above mentioned writing bestie (her name is Michella, and she is living proof that you can find awesome writing buddy friends on the NaNoWriMo forums). Our blog is called Animated Meta, and we ramble about animated movies/shows twice a week. Mic and I alternate our posts (I do Tuesdays, she does Saturdays), and if you love Disney/other animated properties and love reading meta about it, check us out here: https://animatedmeta.wordpress.com/
Anyway, I need to get back to writing. I hit 30k earlier today and I’ve written about 5k so far. I bet I can get at least another thousand words down before midnight. I hope my long ramble was enjoyed by someone!
